I picked up If You Can't Take the Heat from my library based on your rec and I am loving it! It feels good to broaden my reading list while also cracking up!
Oh my god, Sarah. I'm so honored I'm kind of without words right now. JUST KIDDING, I ALWAYS HAVE WORDS, IT IS A CURSE. Anyway. Thank you. You are an absolutely beam of light in a dark clusterf*ck. <3
You’re soooo funny and I can so relate to this craziness about fake smiles which I hate. It’s not natural to have a smiley face all the time. Keep being real I say and don’t normalise that fakeness.
Hey, I'm new here and I didn't realize you're a traveller too! I live in Uruguay now and just had my residency granted.
Fuck my tweetytits, it's been a 'journey'. Two years of bureaucratic bullshit of the 4 countries I lived in before combined. I wish that was an exaggeration.
I also talk to my body. It's incredible what a difference it makes, isn't it?
Congrats on getting your residency—no small feat! Ours took about 3 years to get initially, and every time it comes up for renewal there are new rules and hoops to jump through…🤸🏽🤸🏽🤸🏽
Oh lol yep, I experienced the same thing with registering my unipersonal. On the plus side, if you don't like someone's answer, you can always come back the next day and talk to someone else. They all have their own rules 😉
“it’s possible to be polite, productive, and professional without walking around sporting Howdy Doody’s “O-face” on the regular.”
🙌
I often say it’s fine to expect people to be polite but they don’t have to be nice to you.
I hate the ‘be kind’ thing because it’s really an expectation for women to be kind which actually requires you to put in effort and give something of yourself to others, which is exhausting and draining. Screw yourself so someone else never feels bad, it’s messed up.
I'm a runner and if I had a dollar for every time someone, unsolicited, says "why do you (and by extension everyone) look so unhappy when you are running?" I LOVE running. Sometimes it hurts. But I'm not there to be a smiling face for anyone! Also - I am boycotting *mazon but I bought your book today in spite of, because I believe that art can help overcome fascism.
I appreciate that, thank you! It’s sort of like when I was stuck at an airport in Alabama at 5am and the only thing open was Chik-fil-A. Normally I don’t “eat hate,” but I was starving and had a long travel day in front of me, so I got a breakfast sandwich and then donated $100 to a trans rights organization to counterbalance CFA’s evil corporate policies 🐔 We do what we can…
I am so sick of being "nice" and I'm trying this weird thing of being nice to MYSELF instead of trying to get assholes to be nice to me. Wild!
I have terminal resting bitch face, to the degree where a man has tried to tell me to smile on the street and then changes his mind about approaching. When you meet me, I am super nice and cheerful and bubbly and all the things, but if you only saw me commuting, you'd think I am a stone cold bitch who is not to be fucked with.
I didn't do this on purpose, and in fact have no idea when the RBF is happening, but it has served me well. 😂 I am shit at confrontation, so I guess my brain decided to prevent it.

Oh I’m so glad to hear that! She’s a hoot 😁

Oh HELLOOOOOOO, I didn’t realize you were on here! Happy to beam some light your way in these Darkest of Times ✨✨✨ I loved your book!

That would probably work here too 😂
Traveller's high five! 😂

Let’s normalize audibly growling at male strangers who ask us to smile.
