😂😂 I often burry my feet in the sandpit at my kids’ favourite playground around the corner but this is next level (and probably less ☣️☣️☣️)…

On my happy list I have:

💐 The look of fresh flowers

🚲 A bike ride (ideally against strong winds)

💪 Doing 1 thing to feel independent, strong or confident (can be a work out, can be an action towards my financial independence, can be expressing a strong opinion)

Haha, yes, I think my personal sandbox was a bit more sanitary 😂 Fresh flowers are also high on my list of immediate mood boosters!

My go-to is a small, fleecy blanket that I rest my face against if I’m watching tv on the couch or in bed. I also wrap it behind my head and rub it against my cheek. It has been a thing since forever, and when I sleep other places, I will bring it with me. Any new potential mate must accept both me and my attachment to my blankie. Lol.

I had one of those for a long time but lost track of it during a move. I do LOVE my weighted blanket from Bearaby, which I use to help take power naps. Somehow getting under it puts me right to sleep!

I loved reading this, without a doubt in contetion for best thing I've read this week. I'm on a real journey of self discovery, trying to work out who I am and importantly what triggers me and what makes me feel safe. Self-care is often such a clichéd phrase, and I actually struggle to find acts of self care that feel right for me. A hot cup of coffee (always with oat milk), is probably not chemically doing much to relieve my anxiety, but it definitely brings me peace. I love how you've sought to overcome blocks to make sure you have access to your self care. No beach? No problem! That's the kind of mindset I need to adopt!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I think that trying to discern our triggers for both anxiety AND safety (or joy, or happiness, or whatever we want to call it) is the key to making any kind of sustainable progress with our mental health. Being proactive instead of reactive. And sometimes being proactive takes the shape of a litterbox under the desk :-P Good luck developing your own self-care practice - it sounds like a hot oat milk latte is a great place to start while you figure it out!

Any window with direct sunlight, stretch out on the floor and chill. I had a window at my job and a lock on my office door. Could change my mood drastically...I need sun.

I totally identify with a cat who follows the patch of sun around the room all day. Solar self-care is the best ☀️

I like it. Very creative way to give yourself what you need. And much easier than buying a kiddie pool and pilfering a couple of those big blue water cooler jugs.

Definitely easier to hide under my desk 😹
