More about me:
The books and journals in my No F*cks Given® Guides series have sold more than 3 million copies and are published in more than 30 languages. But even if you’ve never heard of them, you may know me from that TEDx Talk I mentioned, “The Magic of Not Giving a F*ck.” (I have a lot more hair now, but I swear it’s me on your YouTubes.)
Before I became an unlikely self-help “anti-guru” (the Observer magazine called me that when I published The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck, and I embrace it), I graduated from Harvard with a degree in English and American Literature & Language. I moved to New York City in 2000 and worked at a comedy website, a bookstore, and a literary agency before finding my groove as an editorial assistant at the venerable Scribner Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
I spent fifteen years in the publishing industry, editing critically acclaimed and bestselling authors such as Gillian Flynn, Jessica Knoll, Emily Nagoski, Jay Rayner, James Lee Burke, Chris Cleave, and many more.
Then I had a bit of a…crisis.
I realized that although I loved discovering new voices and collaborating with writers and the actual nitty-gritty work of editing a manuscript, I did NOT love working in a corporate environment—even though I was very good at it, it was like death by a thousand paper cuts, every single day.
So, in 2015, after a lot of red wine and a lot of tears (and a year of saving and planning), I quit my Senior Editor position to go freelance; by 2016 I’d published my first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck, and moved from Brooklyn to a small beach town in the Dominican Republic where I still live with my husband, my cats (Gladys Knight and Mister Stussy), and a shitload of lizards.

It’ll be fun, I promise.
