Adrienne is so smart and eloquent when it comes to ambition, careers, balance, and especially WOMEN and success, however that may be defined for you. She is also an excellent interviewer, and a fun Instagram follow!
Come for the pithy movie reviews, stay for some of the funniest, most vulnerable writing on culture, grief, sobriety, friendship, masculinity, and processed meats that you'll ever hope to fine online or elsewhere. John DeVore's essays are always on my must-read radar. (And he has a memoir out in June called THEATRE KIDS: A True Tale of Off-Off-Broadway, which you should obviously pre-order!)
I discovered Sam Baker through her podcast, but have become a huge fan since subscribing to her sharp and thoughtful writing here on Substack. Between her original essays and her crackerjack weekly link roundup, she curates the exact kind of reading, learning, and entertainment experience I'm looking for on this platform. Highly recommend!
I've known Daisy since she brilliantly moderated a couple of my book events in the UK years ago, and I just find her so genuine, delightful, generous, and funny - as a human and as a writer - that I am always interested to get her take on things and read whatever she does, whether fiction or nonfiction. I highly recommend her Substack to anyone seeking real-talk, pep talks, and a sense of camaraderie in their writing life.
Stephanie is an excellent writer with a unique perspective, and I so admire her commitment to increasing visibility around systemic inequality, poverty, and the intersection with motherhood and higher education, among other issues. I loved her memoirs MAID and CLASS, and her Substack is terrific!
